Keeping in mind to spread quality based education in the Lokhra area and inspired by the famous Indian mathematician- Srinivasa Ramanujan Aiyangar, the famous personalities, educationists and social activists of the area developed an idea to establish a junior college in this locality and the result came out as “Srinivasa Ramanujan Academy(SRA)” in 2017. They registered a society (Registration No KAM(M)/263P/134 OF 2017-18) under the society registration act XXI of 1860 Assam named as ‘Srinivasa Ramanujan Educational Foundation’. Under this foundation the society had taken a proposal which was fundamental for the establishment for an educational Institution. The sole aim of the institution was to play an active role in enhancing social awareness for students and promote equal opportunities. Since 2017, Srinivasa Ramanujan Academy has been actively providing quality education in the three streams- Arts, Science and Commerce. During that time there were no educational institutions that aimed to break the cycle of poverty in this locality. It was important for students to have access to volunteering opportunities and be encouraged to give back to society in various ways. Srinivasa Ramanujan Academy is playing a crucial role in shaping our society by instilling moral values, by promoting peace and fostering tolerance and harmony.

With the vision to enhance the quality of education, the founders of Srinivasa Ramanujan Academy, followed the NEP-2020 and introduced the School section in the year of 2022 which is providing quality based education from class- Preparatory to class-X specially for the development of the students in this locality. SRA with its futuristic approach, aims to help the people to gain knowledge which eventually makes them capable of earning a living for themselves.
